Online Outdoor School Program
Your school can rent Camp Koinonia as an Outdoor School venue. It's the perfect location for your students to get up close and personal with nature! Camp Koinonia has 15 acres of riparian (river) zones, forests, and fields.
Nestled right alongside the South Santiam River, the camp gives you access to the river and several pools, riffles, and backwaters for exploring aquatic insects. It has a wide beach that can fit large groups right down along the river's edge.
Teach your students how to fish!
The South Santiam is home to Chinook salmon and steelhead trout. In Oregon, youth 11 and under can get free fishing licenses, or it's $10 for youth ages 12-17.
Take a field trip!
Just a quarter mile upriver is the South Santiam Fish Hatchery, the Adult Fish Transfer Station, and Foster Dam. Free tours at the hatchery are offered year-round. What fantastic field trips abound not far from camp!
Bring your canoes!
There are boat ramps less than a mile away on Foster Lake, and three miles up the road is Lewis Creek Park with a roped swimming area, picnic tables, public restrooms, and plenty of shade. Pack a lunch and spend a day exploring the lake!
Perfect for small group gatherings!
Camp Koinonia abounds with hiking trails and small group gathering areas--a gazebo, various benches and picnic tables, and a bonfire pit with free wood and seating for large groups.
